Meeting Your Significant Other
Honestly, this is just a veiled attempt to test out creating a thread...but anyways...
How did you meet your significant other? (obviously, this question only applies to some of you)
Yes, I am aware that I cannot answer this question....but nonetheless, I enjoy hearing other people's answers. There's always some great stories. I know that my father would have never met my mother had he not stopped by her best friend's house one time...as his car broke down in the street right in front of her house (fate!). No idea who she was, never saw her...but his future wife answered the door...and I guess as they say...the rest is history!

Re: Meeting Your Significant Other
While walking with a friend to her house one summer day, we passed a guy sitting in his lawn chair in his front yard. After the catcalls subsided, he asked if we'd like to go on a date with him and a friend of his later that night. We were bored with no immediate plans, so we agreed. Low and behold, the really hot friend of his ends up falling for me, I for him and nine years later, here we are!

Re: Meeting Your Significant Other
Set up on a semi-blind date by a mutual friend. Semi-blind because we did know each other casually. She claims to have met me when a group of girls crashed a bachelor party I was at where I past out on the floor and someone shaved off one of my eyebrows. I can't verify she met me there, but I can verify the missing eyebrow. But that's another story...
Anyway, the mutual friend worked us both pretty good ("would you marry him if he asked?" and "I think she'd marry you if you asked her"). The friend even took her engagement ring shopping so I didn't screw that part up.

Re: Meeting Your Significant Other
Hey All,
I meet my wife while we were both working at a local sporting goods store. We became quick friends, and hung out with the same group of people from the store since we all worked Friday nights together.
We dated for quite a long time and endured a lot together (long distance relationship, etc.). I can not imagine my life without her and enjoying doing everything I can with her.

Re: Meeting Your Significant Other
We've been together since High School! We actually met on a trolley car on the way to school. I was dating a friend of his who turned out to be a jerk. My husband started out just being a great friend, then we started dating from there. Been together ever since - 17 years & 3 kids later....

My husband and I both worked at an airport as teenagers. We became friends and one thing led to another. Now we are married with 3 kids and he is my best friend!

Through an Amazon.com book review posting!
Although the term, "S.O." doesn't directly apply yet, we've been dating for six months.

Re: Meeting Your Significant Other
I was having lunch with a friend (female) that I hadn't seen in ages. He was in the resturant and she introduced me to him when he stopped by our table to say hi. A few days later, she phoned me late at night for a ride--she had too much to drink and was afraid to drive. When I got to the bar, I had to wait for her to say goodnight to all of her friends and while I sat at the bar, he sent drinks over--a beer and a shot. The barmaid pointed him out. Long story short, my friend continued to drink and I got impatient, she said she would find another ride that would stay and party longer than I wanted to, disgusted I was on my way out, mentally making a note never again to answer the phone after midnight in the future. I passed him and sarcastically thanked him for the drinks, which left me tipsy and not comfortable driving now myself. He took me down the street and bought me breakfast...we were inseperable ever since---almost 18 years now.

Re: Meeting Your Significant Other
OK Jackie....you asked for it...you got it:
One Time, at Band Camp,.....
(yet again another one of failed attempts at humor)
I'm gonna be like Katie in that everyone who is my significant other just doesn't know it yet!
